What is Sloth Day?
Sloth Day is a holiday for you, for me, for everyone. It's permission and your official excuse to do absolutely nothing and with absolutely zero guilt! It's not about any historical event, deity, tradition, cultural practice, etc. This holiday is all about YOU—celebrating your right to kick back, unplug, and embrace your inner couch potato (ahem, your inner sloth).
When is Sloth Day?
Mark your calendars! Sloth Day rolls around every third Sunday in April. Need to know this year's date? Simply scroll up to the countdown at the top of this page.
How do you celebrate Sloth Day?
It's easy! Just chill, disconnect, and don't lift a finger for work. But you must be careful – we suggest you avoid anything that requires making someone else work and relinquish their Sloth Day (e.g., ordering takeout, shopping, or any activity where you'd interact with someone that's working).
Sloth Day is an equal opportunity holiday – so your activities shouldn't depend on someone being forced to work during this wondrous and magical holiday, lest you steal their chance to celebrate as well!
But how do I sloth without snacks or fun!
Fear not, my friend! That's where Sloth Day's Eve comes in!
What's Sloth Day's Eve?
We know living in a capitalist world can be tricky, but Sloth Day comes with a buddy—Sloth Day’s Eve! On the day before Sloth Day, you can venture out into the world to stock up on all the snacks, movies, and cozy pajamas you need to properly sloth it up without disturbing anyone else’s day of rest. Go wild and acquire anything and everything you may need to celebrate a truly disconnected Sloth Day on Sloth Day's Eve!
Who created Sloth Day?
Sloth day was born when Manoj Dayaram and Lillian Kwok found themselves munching on 20-piece McNuggets for just $4 back in 2014 (what a deal!), whilst both unemployed and fully embodying the true essence of Sloth. They figured, why not make a holiday about doing absolutely nothing with absolutely zero guilt? And voilà , Sloth Day was created!
Your website sucks. Seriously.
You’re right! In true sloth fashion, we’ve put in minimal effort into making it. But hey, if you want to improve it, the code is open source in github. We’d love to see what improvements you choose to make!
I have more questions!
